The problem with the schools!!

The flaw they say is with the judiciary and the police every one is so damn curropt. All you need is a lot of money and then you can have your way. May be it is true….But then who is to be blamed for this state?Lets face it given the choice how many of us would pay a fine when caught by a traffic cop…most of us would try to worm our way out by paying a bribe…
Hey but this is way ahead…What about the schools where we are suppoused to be taught and made into people who have honour and pride… As far as I remember if you were a teacher ’s pet, a school topper, or the badge wearer you could always threaten the small guys…After all the teacher would 8 outta 10 times listen to the prodigal student…
We blame politics for the state of affairs…that politics doesn’t have people who are capable enough or who are in touch with the needs of the people...But do our schools teach us any different??? As far as I know 99pc of the schools select head boys and girls based on the academic criteria (of course in order to be all round they have participated in a few quizz competitions and sports!!) But is this what being a leader is all about…aren’t leaders suppoused to be men who earn respect and love rather than demanding it. To be fair not all these selected people are bad…not all of them are arrogant…but do the math…In the end as we progress from shcools to colleges how many of the good guys enter the section of politics….they are now very focused on making a career knowing that they are the best at it..but what about the kids in school who could have been great leaders…didn’t some one take away their confidence?
Not just this quite a few of the children never work to become captain etc because they are taught to focus only on studies…no wonder we have an electorate which isn’t too interested in politics!!
Be loyal to the coutry and never ever think of betraying it, remember that you should never walk out on your team, never sell yourself…right that’s the version we hear in moral science…Most teachers in the staff room then coax their students to do the exact opposite when they need to know who did the mischief..Sure they do it in order to know the truth but what does the kid learn??
Kids wanna stay back and watch matches and cheer for their local team or their mates in drama….
The parents tell their chidren that they better come home and study after all you are not in the drama…don’t you have to score in exams…and this is how the seeds are sown…most of these are the one’s who then regard talk of buiding a nation as a humbug and are first to take flight and run to the western wordl..
Oh and how many times in school did all of us keep our mouth shut when the wrong person was being scolded by the teacher….and they say people don’t act as witnesses!! The character of a nation is determined by the character of it’s people…which in turn is made when they are children…but the world inside of schools more often than not teaches the children those very things which the later want to change…what shall we do about it??

  1. very true, one thing that must be added to the list is tat both d teachers n parents teach der children ta "play safe". dun tak risks, side vid d popular, not d ethical. its al abou being tawdry- luk gud, hav a big mouth,u r one f us.
be 'simplistic n straightforward'- u bcum an outcast.
V r all in a goose chase- jus runnin blindly 2wrds west, copyin dem frm 'tip to toe',vid absolutely no idea 'why?'.
It wud've done dis country a whole lot gud, if parents, instead of pushin der children into mimickin english accents had rather inspired dem ta tak d gud thngz frm west, lyk der diligence n dedication n not doin evry possbl thng ta anti-indianize dem, at d end of d day v r indians, v owe it ta our country ta contribute in fulfillin d dreams f our forefathers saw!

Its a fact dat proper base formation is a must for da body to grow up-straight...
In today's world's creed, winning is more imp no matter others suffer. Parents pressurise their kids to do best in every field especially da education one stressing dem most of d time whch results in suicides.
Well, every child must be encouraged to choose his path.Only den we can have a RAINBOW INDIA :))
    waiting for da nxt one!!!

  3. Good to c a post after quite a long break. An interesting piece of writeup where maverick again evokes a rush of thoughts amongst the readers. I disagree with most of the illustrations though.
The first para doesnt bring in the right prologue to the topic and seems out of place. My indulgence into nefarious acts doesnt necessarily root back to the morals i was taught when i was young. We all were taught to be ethical, but we mend ethics as per our convenience. Why blame the school for that?

Secondly, school and college leaders are chosen by either election or an apt selection process(interviews) and only the best get thru. Slight bias wont really make the path strewn with roses for the prodigal. And seeing the characteristics u described(accomplished in acads, extracurricular) i dont c any reason why the person shouldnt b selected. The people who can have a dent in confidence with these doesnt really fit the bill of a leader and shd leave the chimerical pursuit. They are just not meant for it.

A school is meant to nourish our acumen properly so that one gets the clarity to choose a career. Now just coz whopping no. of educated ppl arent entering politics, how does that put the school at blame. If u remember, the first heroes we're taught abt are politicians only-the freedom fighters, great leaders of past and present, how their selfless service served the country so much. Now if the kids neglect that n focus on the srks, dhonis then why blame the schools for that??

Moral science tells us to never walk out of the team but it also tells us to always support what's right and even if it takes going against one's ppl, the sacrifice is worth the pain. Dont u think its more of a virtue than vice???

I cant relate or agree to almost everything here, but i guess that's the beauty of uninhibited expression. U took a stand and framed an opinion. The phenomenon of blogging has acted as this fabulous platform for us to discuss, promulgate, fight over or agree over issues. Cheers maverick !!! Keep going...

  4. I normally peruse all your blogs, so I read this one as well. According to me, the motif was a whim manifestation. I am not in concordance with the way you discern. Firstly, I felt that the political part of the composition doesn't fit and construe the connotation of the topic.

Second, the whole point of choosing a hortatory leader by first delving into his credentials makes a whole lot of rationale! If I were the jury, I would definitely choose a person with high credentials for the simple reason that to a stranger, the credentials is the only way of understanding the way he cogitates!

Third, school is not the only proscenium for proving your cogent verve in confidence. If you are exuberant enough, join a musical band and play your way through success; or play a sport - one of best way of accreting confidence. I vouchsafe, the confidence will be iridiscent.

However, it needs a lot of balls to indite about something bohemian. Reverence to the Maverick!

  5. hhmm.. as always an interesting post.. but whom r u blaming?? i really dint understand on whom you r imposing the blame.. is it the schooling system? are the parents the defaulters? is it the peer pressure?? or are u blaming the teachers?
may be it was too much of an inferential topic for me to get the actual defaulter here...

I agree with what u said about the criterea for selection of the head boy/girl.. but don't u think it is fair enough? The students getting the extra attention from teachers work hard and earn it.. wat alternative approach would you suggest? isn't the critereon given by you, the only source for the teachers to judge students? n m sure the extra qualities shown by even the "non-prodigal students" dont go unseen by the teachers..

n moral science.. i guess it has too many situation specific contradictions.. may be its time to revise it...:P solution lies in prioritizing the notions...:D

i must say ur way of wrapping up all the important things in a short post is really commendable.. but i guess it got too short this time disabling the reader to completly understand the central idea of the topic..

may be you can propose a new sytem without flaws in your next post...:)
    keep writing...

  6. Mass hypnosis in a very orthodox term is called as education. If you have d courage to own up and stick to your acts at the end of the day and the ability to judge between the right and the wrong then maybe you can think of calling yourself educated.

I, once was very firm of the opinion that teachers and the so called second home called school had a huge rule to play in making you realise your place in this circle of life. Now I know its for sure that that's the biggest BS in the world!! They just help in creating an environment which leads to an experience which in turns into an eye opener.

Inundated minds incarcenated in the four walls of an amusement park where the mirrors just transmit nothing but distorted signals from a reality forever beyond your grasp.A teacher albiet does have the power to affect eternity but there are too many professors around. In the world only two types of ppl get noticed. One who know everything n one who know nothing. The people stuck in the middle are people who are contented/unexplored/ignorant/happy/unhappy/just breathing enough to survive. There are so many also-ran's and the number just increases with the passage of time.

Very few teachers and institutions realise the power they possess n even if they do they don;t know what should be done with it.Most of them are just caught in the wrong jobs. Can't really kick them out or close down these places but yes, what can be done is creating an enviornment where the child is self illuminated either as a kid of 3yrs or maybe later when he/she is 50yrs of age.

Enviornment for a start can be staged by updating our obsolete syllabus, more dual degree schemes etc etc.

If you have it, you'll fight it no matter what.Period.

This post seems to be an outcome of a myriad of thoughts floating in your mind since long.A firm structure would have done justice to it.I like the issues you wreck up since it invites an opinion from the reader.Get well soon, dude.cheers!!

  7. A nice write-up !!!

its true tht a student needs to be ethically, morally, socially bound to be elected as a head boy/girl...but sometimes it happens that people possessing these qualities dont get their due...and the reason being they are introverts...

And when it comes to selecting the head...the jury (the teachers), who know each and every student from his/her childhood, has to select someone who has the above qualities but at the same time speaks his mind as well.

whats d use of having better qualities and not use them.......

this is what precisely one teacher said to his/her student, when the student asked him/her, why he was not selected as among the core members of his team even after possessing the required qualities.

Overall a nice post...and as usual a gr8 treat to read...:)
    keep it up !!
