The true Friend...who are you??
The true friend??
Ok so who is the true friend… I mean is he your friendly neighborhood guy or the pal u drew pranks with in school or the guy you are working with right now...
The advisor...He or she advises you on everything and anything under the sun and you probably won't do nothing if the person wasn't around...some people are addicted to such friends and when such friends get into relationships..my experience says it's a mess!!
The greater good....He's your best pal...he goes ahead and does what he thinks is right for you even if it means going against you...He will expose your little secrets of bunks and mischief’s because he believes he must do what should be done for the greater good of his true friend...I don't get these people...doesn't this imply that you are stepping over the realm of friendship?
The loyalist....He is the true friend for most people...he's loyal to you no matter what..good or bad he will watch your back and expect nothing less...For him there is no morality and the highest virtue is friendship..This more often than not leads him to ignore your vices..Is he the true friend?
The lost love...He or she was once the only one you ever wanted...but they walked up behind you and stabbed you in the heart..yet your heart beats for them..you still put this dignified friend(if I may say so!) above everyone and everything...it's like a drug you could never let go off..
The elder friend...everything about you is known to them and they never overdo any of the emotions..you are very comfortable...but you can never break the wall around them..for all you know...are you really friends??
Or is it Mr. morality…the guy who takes all your support and does what he thinks is right…even if it means making you his enemy..
The associate...it's pretty clear here..you hang out without sharing any secrets..you spend for your own self..you do something for them only if it's not too much of trouble for you..And any deal done should be at least mutually beneficial...It's just like life...you win some..you loose some..
The career guy...you gel up and get driven by your careers..your friendship doesn't exceed the walls of the books...is this a friendly relation or professional friendship or is it friendship at all??
ir may be it is the guy with whom you had a bond long ago..but now distances have come in between the two of you..you don't call each other veryday..but heck..all you need is to dial the no...and you know the person will be there..
We see thousands of people...know hundreds...some of has have a huge hangout group...some a rather small one...but how many of us know who can be the true friend..and e1 if we do..why don't we have them...Perhaps true friends doesn't exist at all...but rather is a state of mind..or they do exist..but only those who can be a true friend can find a true friend...
I for one don't really thing that matters..for me the friends I have are my true friends..but may be someone across the table is thinking..man..how can he be so dumb!!
The only thing which makes most of us make more and more friends is that even true friends are replaceable.....so why bother?? Eat, sleep, dance have a good time..i guess the real friend is the one who shares your happiness the same way he shares your sorrow!!

Hats off Mr. Jhamb, that was the best article you have ever written. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteOther than the techinicality- some grammar, punctuation, capitalization etc it is great.
Actually a question to ponder or rather not waste ones time thinking too much about.
Excellent write.
p.s - Am I true friend ;)
Oh and a true friend would lie between the greater good and the loyalist, thin line to walk you know!

ReplyDeletemarvelous work...as always...
ReplyDeleteda classification of friends into categories is sumthing new! Ther's no greater blessing than an understanding friend, who's there in
times of trouble, one who's slow to criticize but quick to offer praise.
We always get by wid a li'l help frm our frens... cheers to frenship!!!
kudos to u...kp blogging...luking frwrd to read d nxt one.
for me, a true friend would be the cliched definition. the oe who'd be sittig beside me in the jail sayig, " Dude, i told you we'd be screwed!".
ReplyDeleteGreat writing! i like the 'no frills no bells', the pellucid way of writing you've got!
Great inditing bro! well...you already know my feelings of true amity portrayed in the magazine article. your writing is austere yet very touching. it brings out the true connotation of the topic using factitious detail. keep up the good work by writing meaningful topics like these. i'll be waiting for your next write.
ReplyDeleteHey KJ, I think most of us cannot differentiate between acquaintances and friends.A person you share a drink with may not always be a friend.People feel it is their moral responsibilty to blabber when they meet to avoid the awkward silence.Friends are people who you can converse with even with the background silence.
ReplyDeleteThere is no such thing as best friend. But their are people with whom you just gel instantly.I find you to be an awesome buddy with a golden heart!! Cheers to our friendship! One for all and all for one!
Sorry for the typos in my post.
ReplyDeleteBy the way is that KK n you in d pic?? heheheee
Masterstroke maverick, after the adroit description of the road, this one is ur best work. It reflects sensibility, sensitivity and is a reflection of how deep u ponder over issues which can be so easily neglected.
ReplyDeleteFriendship for me is like my emotion for the Indian Cricket team. I may go gaga lionizing them, or i may feel like strangling them sometime, but there is no way i can stop loving them. The bond just carries on.....
We've been taught the adage "A friend in need, is a friend indeed" since the time we enter the big bad world; when the world for us is no more restricted to the family. When we were neophytes, friends used to be the pals with whom we used to play in the evenings or with whom we used to share our lunch at school. There was no clear definition of how we chose them. But as we grow up,temparements creep in; we supposedly understand life better and hence define the conditions on grounds of which we choose our friends.
There is no person who can be your best friend in absolute terms; the ones we've, are relatively closer to us than others. The best friend of a person is just one person- THE PERSON HIMSELF/HERSELF. A friend is supposed to be the reflection of determining your true self to you. Can anyone do it better than yourself; provided honesty stays intact??? A true friend may not be ur best friend and its true the other way around as well. We may be friends with ppl who just adore us even if we go the wrong way. we may rate them as our best frenz but are they the true pals?? Friendship does score over love in many ways as friends know the realms upto which they should intrude in the other person's life. They are not answerable or accountable to the other person for anything and everything they do. The best part is issues are shared without any persuasion, the comfort just flows in and there is no cribbing over the fact that "Why don't u share what goes with u, when i do the same."
we move around in a group of friends, but are all of them really friends?? Even in the big group, we find solace in the company of only a couple of them. Those are our friends amongst the current lot. The pals of "Dil Chaahta hai" are poles apart from the friendship of Andy and Red in "The Shawshank Redemption". The only common bond being -One just connects. So stop bothering about finding that perfect friend coz u may never find one(maybe u dont want to find one). U need to appreciate the ones u've. Go have a blast, pull each other's leg, kick the butt if he/she's misdirected, ,pat the back to congratulate, hug to console and hi-five to celebrate.
Brilliant classifications maverick : the brackets under which u define potential friends is praiseworthy. Though one may not find a specific category to place oneself in it, but amalgamation of two or more covers the gamut. The kind of friend i'm may also differ from person to person. Even if i stay the same with everyone, some would love me and others may not even stand the sight of me. So lets not get theoretical with it and let the instinct do the work- It works!!!
Bravo Maverick... bravo.. and i must confess, our friendship may not be the kind where we go gung ho singing "Ye dosti hum nahi todenge" , but man we do get together and tell the world singing together "Apni to jaise taise, thodi aise ya waise, kat jaayegi... aap ka kya hoga janaabeaali, aapka kya hoga."
